Im a club jumper – I go from gym to gym to gym (sometimes four gyms a week!) just to get to a Body Pump Class.
For the most convenient gym (with Les Mills) to workers of St Georges Terrace / Hay St / Murray St West End, Im surprised that 13 of of the 20 classes are all cut short and only run for 30 – 45 minutes. This might be great for daytime classes, but I think running full hour classes from 5.30 and 6.30 would be better for everyone – cutting a workout in half sux!!
Hi Fruitbat,
Thank you for your feedback. Our timetable has been based on the feedback we have received from our members – the majority of which are corporate members who want to get in, get the workout done, and get out as quickly as possible. When shortening the Les Mills classes the instructors always ensure that they retain the large muscle groups, while cutting the minor muscle groups instead, thus ensuring that the members are still getting as much out of the class in the reduced timeframe. This is the procedure endorsed by Les Mills also.
If it is 60 minute classes you are wanting we do offer those at 6pm, and on Saturday. However until we receive feedback from the majority of our members wanting longer classes our timetable will remain as is. Thanks again for your feedback!
Hi Kylie,
Thank you for your feedback! The choice to cancel Body Balance was one which was not taken lightly. We had tried to boost class numbers over the last 2 months, and had warned members that it would be removed should numbers not pick up, as we cannot run a class with under 5 people.
Body Balance is a class which is unfortunately not too popular in our gym, with most members opting for alternatives such as Pilates and Yoga instead. Although I understand your frustration in having to pay an additional $5 fee for Yoga classes, however Yoga instructors train extensively to become accredited and deserve additional payment for their dedication and hard work.
As our timetable is run on a ‘popularity’ system we will continue to run the timetable as it currently is, however as always we will monitor feedback from members and make changes accordingly.
Thank you again for your feedback, I am sorry I couldn’t provide a response more to your liking.
I feel disappointed that Body Balance has disappeared from the time table altogether and yet i still see two Yoga classes on at lunch time. Would it not be a better option to put “free” classes on at lunch times (Body Balance) and the ones you have to pay for (Yoga) on either before or after work hours?
A gym membership anywhere is never a cheap thing and i don’t feel i should have to pay to go to classes, particularly those offered during the day, even for a nominal fee of $5.
Sorry.
This would be my only complaint so far.
For the classes like Boot Camp and Yoga that have either a $5 or $10 fee do you pay it as you enter or does it get added to your membership fees at the end of the week?
Hi Lisa,
The classes with an additional fee are payable at the time of the visit, unfortunately they are not able to be added to your weekly/monthly gym fees.
Regards,
Management
