The medical industry is always innovating and inventing new medicines and treatment options. We are not getting access to a ton of amazing medicines for the rare disease nowadays, and the clinical trials play an important part in the entire process. The clinical trials take a long time to complete and it’s often conducted in the various phases.
There are more than three phases in the clinical trials, which helps researchers divide the trials in a convenient way. But what actually happens in the clinical trials phases? Why are the trials divided into phases? Well, that’s what we are going to share in this blog post.
Various Phases of Clinical Trials
#1 – First Phase
The first phase of the clinical trial is short and simple. In this phase the researchers start working on the clinical trials by first finding the participants. This is quite a difficult process of finding the eligible participants. There are numerous ways the researchers find the participants, screening them for eligibility, getting informed consent and starting the trials. In this phase, the researchers recruit only a few participants and administer the medicines to identify the safety of the same.
#2 – Second Phase
As the safety of the medicines or the treatment options is confirmed in the first phase, the researchers start recruiting more participants. With the more participants recruited, the researchers again start the medicine administration to them. This phase focuses on the effectiveness of the medicines or the treatment options. Also, they identify the safe dosage medicines on the large group of participants. After that, the researchers move to the third phase.

#3 – Third Phase
The Third phase is usually the last active phase of the trials. In this phase, the researchers include more participants to identify the safety and effectiveness in the various conditions. The participants include a wide range of people from different demographics. Hence, the researchers can have a clear idea of the effect of the medicines on the gene pools. This is the final active phase as the researchers conclude the trials at this phase and prepare the reports for final approval.
#4 – Final Phase
The final phase includes the data analysis by the researchers. This data is collected during the first three phases. After that, the researchers have to compile all the data, arrive at the conclusion, and generate the final report. After that, the report and data are submitted to the governing authorities for final approval. The process is time-consuming and may take more than a few months. But once the approval is received, the medicine or the treatment option is made available to the public and the trial concludes. C
Final Words
The world of medicines and treatment is very unique as there are a lot of innovations. The clinical trials are nothing but the boon for common people in getting immediate and effective treatment.
